Ravyn Lenae returns with two brand new singles, ‘Love Me Not’ and ‘Love Is Blind’.

Ravyn Lenae, the R&B artist who stole our hearts with her 2022 debut LP Hypnos, has announced her sophomore album, Bird’s Eye, executive produced by Dahi. It arrives August 19 via Atlantic. Accompanying the announcement she released two brand new singles, Love Me Not and Love Is Blind.

She explained in a press release that “Bird’s Eye signifies returning to a place of self-trust and unbending intuition while acknowledging the paths and turns I’ve taken to get here”, she said, “Revisiting the most basic parts of my identity has allowed me to fully embrace them and be proud of where I’m going.”

Love Me Not

Released alongside a self-directed music video. In Love Me Not, Ravyn Lenae explores the messy and confusing parts of a situationship. In the chorus she sings with dreamy vocals on top of groovy drums “Oh no, I don't need you, but I miss you, come here.. but he loves me not, he loves me, he holds me tight, then he lets me go”. It is a poignant exploration of love and its complexities in which Lenae dives into heartache and self-discovery, and themes such as longing and uncertainty. Sonically, it is very different from anything she has released before, but it works perfectly, delivering what might be the best R&B song of the year yet. It is fun and at the same time heartbreaking and relatable.

Love Is Blind

On Love Is Blind, Ravyn goes back to her roots and signature R&B style. It sounds like “Hypnos” but elevated. It is a song filled with sensuality and desire that takes the listeners on a journey about a love gone wrong. She is finally past this relationship, accepting that the end of it might be the best for her. She sings like she is convincing herself to let this relationship go “How do you love me if you leave me behind? I guess they mean it when they say love is blind”. Love Is Blind might be the less attention-grabbing single, but it is as captivating as Love Me Not, and definitely the emotional centerpoint of both releases, exploring the blurred lines between infatuation and reality after a breakup.

What is clear from these releases is that Ravyn Lenae continues to be a force to be reckoned with in music and a must follow artist this summer.

As Ravyn Lenae continues to captivate audiences with her mesmerizing sound, fans can eagerly wait for the release of her upcoming album while listening to Love Me Not and Love Is Blind, promising more great music to come.
