Izzy MacArthur releases her sophomore single ‘Sleepwalking’.

Following her debut single ‘Misery Missing Company’, the singer-songwriter navigates through various pop sub-genres with elegance and assurance. ‘Sleepwalking’ continues to lay the tracks for the sonic world meticulously built by Izzy, with nostalgic synths, plucky guitars, and electric drums.

Hailing from New York City, the alternative pop singer-songwriter fearlessly confronts chaos with a resolute intensity and razor-sharp lyrics that seem to echo unspoken thoughts. Grounded in a unique storytelling ability, Izzy beckons listeners to delve into a vivid narrative that feels strangely familiar, as if recounting a life they've previously experienced.

‘Sleepwalking’ continues the strong sense of storytelling first shown in her debut, detailing the all-too-familiar internal conflict between listening to those around her versus going with her gut. Izzy explains:

“I wrote this song about a really specific event. I felt like everyone around me was encouraging me into a situation I had a bad feeling about, but went along with it because I was listening to people around me more than myself. I ended up being right in the end, and just felt terrible. I feel like my songs are usually a reflection of my own habits and patterns, demonstrated through a single event in a song. The chorus feels super uplifting, kind of like me putting my foot down, saying I won’t keep putting myself in these situations.”

She cites current favourite artists like Lorde, Sam Fender, and the 1975, as well as artists she loved growing up like Fall Out Boy, Catfish and the Bottlemen, early Miley Cyrus, and Bon Iver as major contributors to her current sound. This wide array of artists had one common thread: clever lyricism and incredible storytelling.
